The Tabletop Game Tag

I love to play games so I figured that I would do The Tabletop Games Tag! I first saw this tag on A Geek Girl’s Guide and figured that it would be fun to do!

The Tabletop Games Tage

Now what is the definition of a Tabletop game?? According to Wikipedia a “Tabletop game is a general term used to refer to board games, card games, dice games, miniature wargames, tile-based games and other games that are normally played on a table or flat like surface.” So pretty much it’s a broad term for all games that don’t involve a TV or computer.

1-Favorite type of tabletop game?

Strategy games are the best! Whether it is a deck building game like Dominion, or board game such as Clue or Ticket to Ride I’ve always really loved strategy games! There is something that is so fulfilling about seeing your strategy work out. Or if it doesn’t work out you know what not to do for next time!

2-Favorite time to play tabletop games?

Any time that I can get people to play with me! I’m pretty much always down to play tabletop games, unless someone wakes me up at a ridiculous hour that is. 😉

3-Favorite game you have ever played?

Just one?? There are so many good ones though!! But if I have to pick JUST ONE I’d save 7 Wonders. It’s never the same no matter how many times you play it. It’s always different and I really like that! Plus, this game keeps me on my toes. Because if I don’t pay attention the player next to me can stock up on armies and I will never catch up.

4-First game you ever played?

The first game that I remember playing is Go Fish and Old Maid. It was with those cards that are pretty big and have the red border around the picture.

5-What’s the most recent game you’ve played?

Hand and Foot. It’s a card game played in pairs where you try to get the most points. There are tons of various rules for the game but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty fun!

6-What game have you played the most?

Probably Clue. I played Clue a TON as a kid!

7-What game do you want to add to your shelf?

Codenames and Cover Your Assets. Both are games that I’ve played at other people’s house and really enjoyed!!

8-Favorite game to share with non-gamers?

Deer in Headlights. It’s a really easy game to play plus everyone I’ve played it with has really liked it! All you basically have to tell new players is; “Here are your cards, roll the dice, and I’ll tell you what to do. The object is to get rid of all your cards first.” Then I tell the player what their roll means. It’s really easy!

9-Well-known game you’ve never played?

Munchkins, and it’s never really appealed to me….

10-Show off your game shelf!

I actually don’t have a game shelf, I store all my games on the floor of a closet. It’s a little messy…

  • I have never played Dominion, never heard of it and a quick peak makes me think I would thoroughly enjoy it. Munchkin is an ok game, easy to play and hard to win if you play with people who play it regularly (the humour gets a bit stale after a while too, but it is fun every now and again). Never played Seven Wonders, and always been curious about it. I has drifted on and off my amazon wishlist for years.
You may have seen my tabletop tag as I posted in Geek Blogs Unite, but in case you didn’t I will link it below.
    great post

  • Strategy games are also one of my favorite categories. I can’t do strategy games if I just want to relax and unwind though. Red Dragon Inn is my favorite table top game for drinking with friends.
