Review-The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook: Lemon Drops

Harry Potter

I got this cookbook ages ago!! I actually talked about it in a favorites post, but now I finally tried out a recipe from it! For my first recipe, I decided to try a recipe for Lemon Drops, inspired by Dumbledore in the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Did this recipe taste good? Was it easy to make? Would I make it again?

Review-The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook: Lemon Drops

Pro

-The recipe is really straightforward and easy to follow.

-This recipe only calls for 6 ingredients, the only one I had to buy was the cream of tartar which was at my local grocery store.

Review-Lemon Drops

I put water, corn syrup, cream of tartar, and sugar in the pot over medium heat.

Waiting for the candy thermometer to get to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. I’m not the most patient person. πŸ˜‰ Once it does, I took the sugar mixture off the stove waited for the bubbles to go away. Then I added the lemon extract and stirred the mixture.

Review-Lemon Drops

Using a greased teaspoon, I dropped the candy mixture onto a baking pan lined with parchment paper.

Here’s a picture with all the extra sugar string taken off.

Cons

-After sucking on the candy for about 5 minutes it started tasting gross!!

-Cleaning up harden sugar off of a pan is NOT fun! Tip for that put the pan back on the stove with water. Boil the water and the sugar will dissolve and you can dump it all down the drain.

Conclusion

Will I make this again? If I do it will be with more lemon extract, so hopefully, it’ll taste better!
