I was lucky enough to be able to attend FanX 2017 this past weekend, March 17 and 18. It was a blast! I always have such an amazing time when I get to go! And this post is all about the fun things that I either bought, was given, or won! I think you will be surprised at one of the things I got, I know I was when they gave it to me..
Choker necklaces are really big right now (I see them every where!). So what better way to show my Harry Potter pride than by making me a golden snitch choker?? It’s super easy and didn’t take me very long to make at all! And what Harry Potter nerd wouldn’t love to be wearing their very own personal golden snitch?!
I like making things, I tend to do it quite a lot. I especially like making things that I can wear! Add in the fact that it is a nerd related wearable item and I am sold!! I thought that I would share with you how to make this SUPER easy DIY Harry Potter shirt! The best part is that you can use this technique to make a shirt for any fandom that you are a part of!
Hello fellow nerds!! Below is a list of 4 fandom deaths that I am STILL upset about! And to quote River Song, “Spoilers!” If you haven’t read Harry Potter, or seen season seven of Doctor Who proceed with caution!
4 fandom deaths I am still upset about!
Dobby is one of the under appreciated characters in the Harry Potter series. I loved his kindness and how humble he is. He was such an example of unconditional love. When Bellatrix threw the knife and Dobby ended up dying in Harry Potter’s arms I cried. This was one of the deaths that I cried the most about in Harry Potter. Their were a couple others, but this one still makes me upset!
I have had an occasion to meet a couple of celebrities, thank you Salt Lake Comic Con! And I have have definitely fangirled when meeting some of them. Usually I’m pretty good at keeping it together when I actually meet the celebrity, USUALLY being the key word. It’s when I am walking away that I geek out. Check out these four times I totally fangirled.
Four times I totally fangirled
Tom Felton was the second celebrity that I had met, the first being Karen Gillian. I was standing in his autograph line for a about four hours and as we were snaking our way to the autograph table I started freaking out. Usually, I can contain myself when I am actually meeting a celebrity. However, I geek out when I am about to meet them or after I have just met them. I was dressed up as Bellatrix Lestrange in her prison costume, which he commented on. 🙂 As I was walking away I got really excited and almost started hyperventilating. My sister, who was in the the autograph line with me, told me if I passed out she was going to leave me there. 🙂 Keep reading
In 2016 we had to say farewell to many of the actors and actresses who have found a place in our hearts. This is my way of remembering what three of my favorites have given to me and why I loved them.
David Bowie has done many things in his life. What I will remember him most for is his rendition of the Goblin King from the movie Labyrinth. I still love listening to “Magic Dance”. This moment of the film is so iconic. If you saying the line to me ‘You remind me of the babe’ I will always finish the rest of the intro to “Magic Dance”. And David Bowie does a fantastic job of pulling off this character with confidence. He plays the Goblin King in such a way that you can’t help but like him.
What I got for Christmas this year, nerd version! 🙂 I always love seeing what other people got for gifts so I thought I’d share what I got! I like to see what other people got to give me ideas for future gift giving situations. Hopefully this helps to give you some ideas.
What I got for Christmas, nerd version!
I am a huge Eleventh Doctor fan so a fantastic friend of mine got me these two Christmas ornaments! It’s Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and his sonic screwdriver. I love how the Doctor is fixing his bow tie!! I also was given this TARDIS lanyard that has the words, “It’s smaller on the outside”. It fills me with joy. 😀
I started reading the Harry Potter series when I was about ten. This series has forever changed my life. I started reading these books because my older brother was reading them aloud with me. We would take turns going back and forth. We only did this for the first little bit of the book. But I was hooked, I wanted to see how the story would turn out. Little did I know that I was in for a long journey ahead. Seven books and eight movies of a journey ahead, to be precise.
It’s Thanksgiving here in the States so what a perfect time to tell you what I’m thankful for! And I am thankful to be a nerd!
I’m thankful to be a nerd because I feel like nerds get better female role models. For example, Hermione Granger in Harry Potter. She showed girls that it’s ok to be smart. How many times did she get Harry and Ron out of a scrape by using her brain? Katniss Everdeen showed girls that it’s alright to fight to protect those that you love. She volunteers as tribute to protect Prim from the Hunger Games. Amy Pond showed us to have faith in other people. She never gave up on the Doctor or Rory. These are just the female role models, not to mention the amazing male role models. Keep reading
With Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them premiering right around the corner (or already available for some of you lucky people) I thought I would share how to host an awesome Harry Potter party! I did this for Harry Potter’s birthday one year and it was a blast! So hopefully you can learn from this and host your own awesome Harry Potter party!
