Between the pages-DIY Harry Potter book craft.

Book nerdDIYHarry Potter

For a Faceebook group that I am in, Geek Blogs United, they are doing themed posts this week. Between the pages. So basically anything involving books. And because I was feeling crafty Β I decided to make something with book pages. Of course I did one involving Harry Potter! Come and check out my between the ages craft project!

I decided to make a Harry Potter candle, because who doesn’t love candle light? And if you combine the flickering candle glow with Harry Potter you’ve got magic!

You only need a few things for this project which makes it all the better!

Candle in a glass jar

Book pages

Mod Podge

Sponge paint brush

Cleaning alcohol

Cotton rounds

Making the candle

First-Get your candle. I chose to make mine out of a three wick candle that I got from Bath and Body Works.

Second- Peel off the any labels that are on the candle. I found it works best to try to roll up a corner, then peel off the rest.

Third-clean the glass with cleaning alcohol and a cotton round.

Fourth-Tear pages out of a book. I chose to tear pages out of a Harry Potter book that was already falling apart and needed to be replaced. I don’t think I could have torn pages out of a perfectly good book. πŸ™‚

Fifth-tear the book pages into smaller pieces to place on the glass.

Sixth- Use the sponge brush to put Mod Podge on one side of the torn book pages.

Seventh-position the torn book page on the glass of the candle.

Eight- Repeat step six and seven until the entire glass jar is covered. Try not to over lap the pages too much because it makes it harder for the light to go through.

I left a little room at the top of the glass jar so that I could still put on the candle lid.

Now light up your candle and enjoy the magical glow! And the best part is, when the candle is all gone I can just a new one by pouring in melted candle wax over some wicks! Or I can just use it as a decorative jar.

I am very please with the finished project!! What do you think? Are you going to make your own? If so, what books do you want to make it out of? Please leave a comment with your thoughts down below!

  • That came out looking so great! I agree that I’m not sure that I could tear up a good book but I’d love to do it with a Harry Potter book since I’m sure I have one or two of those that are falling apart. It would be cool to make a set of them with different chapters. Great tutorial! I love all the pictures! It makes me really want to try it!

    • Thank you so much! I love your idea of making a set of them with different chapters! I think that would look really cool. If you do end up doing that I would love to see a picture!
