If you haven’t figured it out by now, I LOVE making stuff!! I especially love making Harry Potter stuff!! I had a blank wall space underneath my Harry Potter shelf that was just CALLING out for some Harry Potter art. So of course, I made some! I found an idea on Youtube and modified it so fit me and I love it!! So here is a SUPER CHEAP Harry Potter wall art DIY!
I am a REALLY organized person and like to prepare for things WAY early! (Yes, I have already started planning Christmas gifts.) Salt Lake Comic Con is scheduled for September 21-23 and while that may seem like a long ways away, it will be here before you know it! So here are 3 things that I am currently doing now to prepare for Comic Con.
3 Things I doing NOW to prepare for Comic Con
This is something that we always say we are going to do, but then never actually do. Well I started actually doing it and it has made my Comic Con experience so much more enjoyable! Comic Con, for me, is not an inexpensive venture. I always get a celebrities autograph and I don’t think I have ever gotten less then two pictures at every con I’ve gone to. To help plan for this I take $25.00 out of each paycheck (I get paid twice a month) and put it. The best part is that $25.00 isn’t a lot of money but it quickly starts to add up. When it comes time for Comic Con I just take the money I’ve saved to the con in cash. I talked about the importance of using cash in this post. This is the best way for me not to overspend at the con.
Improve my stamina-
Comic Con is exhausting!! Utterly amazing, but definitely exhausting! So I’m trying to do simple things so that when I go I can make it through the con. Some really cool stuff happens at the end of each day. And if you leave at say six you could mix something awesome! *Cough, cough cosplay contest.* So I’m trying to walk more and be more active. This way I will be better able to enjoy every little moment!
This is definitely something that you want to prepare in advance! No one likes to be rushing around last minute trying to throw together a costume! When you prepare in advance you can take your time and make your costume look exactly the way that you want it. Or in my case fix up any old costumes that you are planning on reusing. This year I was thinking making one new costume and reusing some of my previous costumes. I lately have been OBSESSED with Jurassic World so I think it would be really fun to go as Claire. I already have a red headed wig. All I would need to do is find/make a white skirt, a white blouse, and a purple tank top. Plus, I’d be able to wear all the clothes again!
Come to the Nerd Side,
PS-What are some of the things you are doing to prepare for Comic Con?
I’m back after a lovely vacation in North Carolina!! Well friends it is the end of another month, and you know what that means… another monthly favorites post!! And this month’s favorites are very Harry Potter themed, in fact it is all Harry Potter stuff!! My sister and my dad went to England and bought me some Harry Potter stuff over there. 😀
The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook- I finally got this book from Amazon! It has been on my wish list for literally years! I can’t wait to give these recipes a try! The pumpkin pasties one looks especially tasty! And so does the fizzy sherbet pouches. 😀
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone-My sister got this for me over in London when she went to the Warner Bros Studio tour and I love it!!!! It’s so beautiful, plus it’s the Slytherin one! This book is available from Amazon.
Deathly Hallows necklace-My sister also picked this up for me when she was in England. This is from the Harry Potter shop at Platform 9 and 3/4. I haven’t been able to locate it any where else. I’ve wanted a small Deathly Hallows necklace for quite some time and all the ones that I’ve seen are about and inch tall or more. I saw a Youtuber that I follow wearing this necklace, Cherry Wallis, and she told me where she bought it. Thank you Cherry! So I of course asked my sister to get it for me when she went over there. It’s it just perfect?!
Gringotts coin necklaces-I talked about these coins before in a previous post. I bought them back in March at FanX and I’ve been saying I would make them into necklaces when I got the Gringotts coins from Amazon. Well I FINALLY did it!! And I love them! Because from far away it looks like just a regular circular pendant. But in actuality I am sporting my Harry Potter pride!
Flying Cauldron Butterscotch Beer soda-My roommate found this soda in a grocery store and was so kind and bought it for me. You can get this soda online at Amazon. This is a NON-ALCHOLIC drink and it tastes delicious!! It’s a Butterbeer-like soda and I’ve had Butterbeer in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, while this isn’t a substitute for the real Butterbeer this is definitely the next best thing!!!
Butterbeer candle- I made this for a my DIY post this past month and I love it!! It turned out so much better than I expected it to! It has a lovely subtle scent which is perfect for me! It’s fabulous for infusing my bedroom with the scent of Butterbeer when watching a Harry Potter movie or reading one of the Harry Potter books.
What have you been enjoying this past month? Leave them in the comments below so that I can check them out!

We all love a good Disney hero/heroine, but what about the Disney villains?? I can’t be the ONLY person who has a favorite Disney villain?! Are we giving the villains the love that they deserve? And let’s be honest for a moment, the villains get the some of best songs!! Case and point; Scar sings ‘Be Prepared’, Prince Hans sings ‘Love is an Open Door’, and Mother Gothel sings ‘Mother Knows Best’. All great songs!
I love doing DIYs! They are so fun and then you have a really cool item. That when people compliment you can say, “Thanks, I made that.” And wow them with your awesome craftiness! This month I decided to make a Butterbeer candle. I love how it smells and I love how it turned out!
I decided to do the impossible! I’m going to pick my top FIVE Harry Potter book scenes!!! I have no idea how I am going to narrow it down to only FIVE scenes but I’m going to give it a go! Wish me luck!
It’s time for another review! And today I will be reviewing the Gringotts coins from the Noble Collection. Do I think they are worth it? Should you get them for yourself? YES, YES, and YES!! This is my favorite thing that I own in my Harry Potter collection!
The Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con is making its annual appearance this year on June 23-25, 2017. And vegas.com got me thinking, what do I wish I had known before my first con??? Huzzah! A new blog post idea! For those of you attending the convention (jealous!!!) here are some Las Vegas vacation package deals that may make planning your trip SOO much easier. That is NOT an affiliate link, I get nothing out of it. 🙂 Hopefully this post will help you as you prepare to have an awesome time at the convention!
5 things I wish I’d have known before my first con
May was a very Harry Potter month for me. I found some new things to add to my collection! And we all know how much I love my Harry Potter stuff! What about you? What are some of your monthly favorites from May? Did you find anything amazing that I should know about?
Lightning bolt necklace-Now technically this necklace is not a Harry Potter branded necklace, but I’m still counting it as Harry Potter because it is a lightning bolt!! My parents recently went to Korea and picked up this GORGEOUS necklace for me! I love how small and dainty it is! This is probably one of my favorite necklaces that I own.
